Workpackage leaders meet in Oostende

The Workpackage leaders of the 6 Workpackages of the SAIL project have met in the port of Oostende on 27 and 28 January 2013. This resulted in working agreements and planning for the coming period. The next partner meeting  in Wilhelmshaven, Germany on 10 an 11 April 2013. At this meeting we wil focus  on hybrid sailing concepts, the experience until now and the pilots in development. This will set the sails to a sustainable future.

All 6 Workpackage Leaders will travel to Oostende, Belgium on 28 January 2013 for a lunch-to-lunch meeting. They will discuss the Workpackage project plans, the progress and the planning. Also Communication, involvement and interlinks between the different Workpackages will be further explored.

Fairtransports schooner Brig Tres Hombres saves solo sailor on Atlantic

The 32 metre long schooner Brig Tres Hombres is the freight ship sailing without motor of Fairtransport which maintains a sustainable freight service for example to the Caribean.

The Day after Christmas the Tres Hombres received a notification via the coast guard of Fort de France in Martinique, that a solo yachtsman was rudderless. At that time the Tres Hombres sailed about 100 miles north of the ship in the middle of the ocean towards their destination Barbados.
